Blenko Glass Owls
The main glass owls produced by Blenko Glass Company were these heavy solid glass bookend owls. These can be found in amber, green, amberina and crystal (colorless) glass and were made in the 1970s. They measure 7 inches tall, by 5 3/8 inches wide and 1 3/4 inches thick. They weigh nearly 6 pounds each!
Blenko also made ashtrays from this design, imprinting the owl body in the bottom of a circular ashtray bowl.
In the late 1950s Blenko made owl vases with applied eyes on mouth-blown vessels, which now are very collectible, so keep your eyes open for them! Some are signed “Blenko” but the hallmark clue that it’s Blenko is the applied features.
