Three versions of Rainbow glass owl vase from same mold.
The same Rainbow Glass mold could produce owl vases in different forms. Here we see three colors of glass in three different shapes and heights, depending on how the top of the vase was stretched or molded when it was made. The amber and green ones have different flaring of the top “ears” of the owl, while the orange or amberina vase actually is finished off like a bottle which could be corked. Note that all three have the molded base with pontils, which indicate that they were mouth-blown glass, blown into molds, then broken off from the blowing pipe. which is typical of items made by the artisans at Rainbow Glass. The green owl is 7 5/8 inches tall, 6.5 inches at the widest point ear to ear and about 3 inches deep at the widest front to back.
